Engaging Different Giving Motivations

What drives donors to give? Research suggests each has distinct motivations to give. Each wants to invest charitable dollars and be involved in different ways. They also have vastly different expectations about how projects should impact individuals, the community, and the world.

In this session, based on the classic in the field, The Seven Faces of Philanthropy, and presented by our very own GIFT Center staff, we will:

  • Learn about the seven major donor “faces” and their motives for giving.
  • Take away tips and tools for applying this framework to your donor interactions and communications.
  • Relate the framework to specific philanthropic challenges, giving fundraisers more tools.
